ABOUT THE AIRLINE : AirTran
first began as ValuJet in 1993. ValuJet suffered
financial problems due to negative publicity
regarding the Flight 592 incident in 1996. As
a result ValuJet merged with Airways Corp.
Since 1997, AirTran moved its
headquarters to Orlando, Florida and ended all
of the old routes. AirTran is now a low cost
airline operating from the East to West coast
but mostly concentrated in the East and Midwest.
