About The Airlines : Ambassadair is founded in 1972 as an air travel club. Later in 1981, ATA becomes a certified air carrier.

Initiating scheduled service in 1992, ATA averages a total passenger 500,000 departing from Chicago-Midway Airport during its first year. To better serve its customers, ATA launched its site ata.com in 1996.

At the turn of the century, ATA airlines achieved the status Major Carrier in the United States. Later in 2003, ATA undergoes the name change from American Trans Air Inc to ATA Airlines, Inc.
