ABOUT THE AIRLINE : Singapore
Airlines began in 1946 but it was not until
the following year that the airline mounted
its first flight. Starting with just a twin-engined
plane, Singapore Airlines flew between Singapore
and Kuala Lumpur.
In the following decades, Singapore
Airlines increased their number of planes and
during the 1970s, the airline added cities in
the Asia and the Indian subcontinent. In 2004,
the inauguration of commercial flights between
Singapore and the US allowing passengers to
travel in non-stop flights making their travel
more convenient.
As a way to strive for better service, Singapore
Airlines will be the first airline to operate
the world's largest aircraft, the A380, in 2006.
